There were a few Modern Kdramas that I took the time to watch and they were definitely worth the time.
This riveting thriller/ legal drama is about prosecutor, Park Jung Woo(Ji Sung) who is unfortunate enough to go head to head with a Chaebol sociopath, Cha Min Ho (Uhm Ki Joon) who kills his family and also frames him for the murders . He then sets out to get him the death penalty. Park Jung Woo’s fight to stay alive and also bring justice to his murdered family makes for very thrilling viewing.
Conclusion: A must watch
This started out as a sageuk and then firmly settled within the modern timeline thus the classification as a modern Kdrama. It’s more of a fantasy drama about a supernatural being Kim Shin (Gong Yoo) Kim is an immortal goblin who can only lose his immortality if he finds a bride who can kill him with a mystical sword. He shares a house with a Grim Reaper ( Lee dong Wook) who has amnesia and he has a human steward he would be better off firing. The storyline itself revolves around secrets from both the goblin and the grim reapers past lives as well as the goblin discovering that he really does not want to die once he meets his perky bride.
Conclusion: A decent watch it will be worth the time taken
Bride of the Water God/ Bride of Habaek
Bride of Habaek is a fun watch with no real story line as far as I can tell. It is just cute to watch a really handsome actor play a god who forgets his mission on earth and falls in love with a human. The Characters in the show are quite entertaining and it is fun to watch the bickering gods and goddesses on the show. This show is not about the storyline but rather the character interactions.
Conclusion: A fun watch over a long holiday weekend
I have only watched two episodes but I am hooked Lee Seung Gi as the mischievous Monkey god who has to protect Jin Sun Mi ( Oh Yeon Seo) as the long suffering woman tormented by monsters that think she would make a good snack because her blood smells like a lotus flower. The two have great chemistry and create great comedic moments even when they do not mean to do so.
Conclusion: The first two episodes are off to a strong start I sure hope that I will still be singing the same song well into 2018.
